MEMBERS

Del Norte Local Transportation Commission members serve one year terms by appointment. The Crescent City Council appoints three members and Del Norte County Board of Supervisors appoints three members. The Commissioners, with the addition of a representative from the California Department of Transportation, serve as the Policy Advisory Committee. The Commissioners for 2008 are:

Technical Advisory Committee (TAC)

The Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) exists to provide technical advice to Del Norte Local Transportation Commission (LTC). Members of the TAC are appointed by the LTC. The TAC currently consists of:

  • Two staff people from the City of Crescent City:

  • Two staff people from the County of Del Norte:
    Heidi Kunstal
    Tina McClendon

  • A representative from the California Highway Patrol:
    David Peterson

  • A representative from the California Department of Transportation:

  • A representative from the Redwood Coast Transit Authority:
    Mark Wall

  • A representative from the Yurok Tribe:

Social Services Transportation Advisory Council (SSTAC)

The Social Services Transportation Advisory Council (SSTAC) is a council appointed by Del Norte Local Transportation Commission (LTC) to represent seniors, the disabled, and persons of limited means regarding transit matters. It meets once a quarter, and consists of the following members:

  • A representative of potential transit users who is 60 years of age or older:
    Elisabeth Burrows

  • A representative of Consolidated Transportation Services Agency:
    Diane Dickey

  • A representative of a services provider for the handicapped:
    Carmen Fong-Chavez

  • A representative of the local social service providers for seniors:
    Terri McCune Oostra

  • A representative of the local social service providers for seniors:
    Jodi McNamer

  • A representative of potential transit users who is handicapped:
    Holly Wendt

The SSTAC has the following responsibilities:

  • Identify transit needs

  • Participate in the annual unmet transit needs process, in which the LTC holds a public hearing to determine whether or not there are any unmet transit needs which are reasonable to meet

  • Advise the LTC on any other major transit issues, including the coordination and consolidation of specialized transportation services

Tamera Leighton is a private planning and community development consultant. She provides staff to Del Norte Local Transportation Commission.
